What are you noticing?
Changes in facial fullness, cheek wrinkles, and skin firmness often show up together. Sculptra may be one option when the goal is gradual improvement across an area.
In my San Jose practice, I start by looking at these changes together—not by choosing a product first.

It does not replace surgery, treat every cause of a tired appearance, or suit every area. An assessment comes first.

Both can be useful. Sometimes they serve different roles within the same plan. I’ll talk through those roles with you. The choice starts with what has changed—not a preference for one product.

Assessment
I review your facial changes, health history, goals and alternatives with you before recommending treatment.
Treatment
I perform your treatment personally. Treatment involves injections; we discuss comfort measures, and temporary tenderness is possible.
Early recovery
Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness are possible. Initial fullness includes fluid and swelling; it is not the final collagen result.
Follow-up
I reassess your changes with you over time. A series is often recommended, with an individual schedule.
When will I see a difference?
Improvement develops over weeks and months. Some study participants noticed a change around one month; results may last up to two years. Individual response and treatment courses vary.
If you have an event coming up, raise the date before planning treatment.
After your appointment
Plan for possible swelling and bruising. Follow the personalized aftercare instructions you receive. Galderma recommends massaging treated areas for five minutes, five times daily, for five days; confirm your instructions with Sheri.

Who may be suitable for Sculptra?
Suitability depends on your goals, facial changes and health history. Allergy to product ingredients or a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring may preclude treatment. An assessment comes first.
What about pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Defer treatment and discuss your circumstances with Sheri.
How many treatments?
A series is often used; count and spacing are individualized. Your consultation includes a proposed course and estimate before you decide.
Will I need maintenance?
We review your results and goals as changes occur. Maintenance is individualized, not a mandatory annual schedule.
What are the risks?
Swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness and delayed lumps or nodules can occur. Rare serious intravascular complications can cause tissue injury or vision effects. We will review suitability, alternatives and risks before treatment.
